Is your steno machine compatible?

We're not going to scare you into buying a new writer. If your current one is getting by just fine, keep it.  The money you save by not buying a new writer can completely pay for your Total Eclipse software.
However, if you are in the market for a new writer, check out the description of the
Passport, an innovative paperless writer from Advantage Software.

ASCII Files and HTML Indexes

To create an ASCII file, either click on toolbar icon or use the speedkey, Shift Alt O, as in Output.

At the “ASCII” dialogue, you can also make an HTML file that your clients can open in Internet Explorer or any standard web browser.  It contains a built-in word index.

Is Condensed Transcript Printing built into Total Eclipse?

Of course.  You can print your 4-per-page transcript and word index right from Eclipse. Don't waste time making an ASCII and importing into another program.  A huge time-saver.

What about Wireless Realtime Transcription?

Total Eclipse works very well with the StenoCast line of wireless realtime products.

       The
StenoCast X1 is a Bluetooth transmitter that wirelessly connects your current steno machine to your computer, up to a distance of about 300 feet.  Its rechargeable lithium polymer battery can work more than 30 hours on a single charge.

The StenoCast X5 is a Bluetooth transmitter that wirelessly connects the reporter’s computer to clients’ computers, up to a distance of about 300 feet. The StenoCast X5 has its own built-in lithiium battery; but it can also get the power that it needs through one of your computer’s USB ports.  For more info or to order these products, visit the StenoCast pages of this website.
